Abundantly More Than We Ask or Imagine

No one has ever heard of such a God. No one has ever heard such a story. No one has ever seen any God except you, who does such great things for those who trust him.  (Isaiah 64: 4  ERV)

What an awesome, precious assurance and, of course, true! Among all of the gods and demigods imagined by humanity, there is not one who can compare to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. The apostle, St. Paul, knew this and lived this out in his life, which is why he joyfully repeats the prophet Isaiah:

But as it is written, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love him.”  (1 Corinthians 2: 9  ISV)

It almost goes without saying that it’s easy to get discouraged. I know. I know pain and suffering. I know love and loss. I know about horrendous bouts with depression and anxiety, and so much more. However, I also know the powerful work of God in my life. I know of His unfailing love for me, and His ever-faithful companionship even in the darkest of times. Do you?

Call on God, and He will answer. It may not be immediate or in quite the way you expect, but the Lord is faithful. God really does hear you, and He loves you with an undying love, and He really will answer you. More than this, God has prepared an unimaginable life of authentic love, emotional and spiritual peace, and inner joy for you … yes, for you!

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.  (Ephesians 3: 20-21  ESV)
