New Day, New Way

What is this sound I hear? Pounding on the ground,
And what sight do I see? Way-making so carefree
Through once-deserted wilderness of bitterness
Of my existence, but now there is this persistence
In building an highway of delight in the new light
Of the Son; flowers bloom where once was gloom,
And doom of parched earth has given birth to soil
So soft and rich, and these ditches now are filled
With running water, crystal clear and pure, sure
And steady in flow, ready ever near for thirsty man
To drink without fear as a new way is made for me
On this brand-new, never-ending day, and I say…

Praise the Lord Almighty!
