Great and most gracious God, our heavenly Father,
I praise You for Your greatness, majesty, and holiness; and I thank You for Your continual goodness to me and to those whom I hold so dear to my heart. Praise be to You in the highest heavens; praise be to You throughout the earth!
Praise be to You for Your mighty deeds; for Your love, mercy and grace! Indeed, let us sing and dance for You; let us make music and sing songs of praise to You for the whole world to hear! Let everything that breathes praise You, the Lord God of all!
Forgive me, most gracious Lord, for the sins that I have committed in thought, word and deed; both known and unknown. Especially forgive me for my negligence in prayer, praise and the study of Your holy Word. Wash me, cleanse me, and make me whole and holy in Your sight once again; by the power of Your all-holy, life-giving Spirit, in and through Jesus the Christ our Lord . . . my Lord and only Savior.
Abba Father, I especially come before You now on behalf of my country — the place of my birth, which You have so abundantly blessed — in a spirit of repentance and pleading. My Lord, oh Lord, we have turned away from You in so many ways, and continue to slide into darkness, decadence and death. Have mercy upon us, O God; have mercy upon us!
Bless with special, powerful blessings, my brothers and sisters in Christ everywhere, but especially now here in this country. Fill each of us with Your all-holy, good, and life-giving Spirit . . . fill us to overflowing with Your divine, powerful presence that we might be salt and light, the Light of Christ piercing the darkness that surrounds us!
Breathe upon us and into us, Lord God of heaven and earth! Breathe upon our land; breathe upon our towns and cities and villas and throughout the countryside and coastal land! Rain down Your Spirit upon our land, bring our country to its knees in genuine repentance, and so lead us as a nation to You, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
Make us mindful — that is, powerfully and passionately aware — that genuine freedom, liberty and justice come from You and from You alone; and in so doing, save us from the violence spreading across our land; save us from the discord and confusion sown in our country by the Adversary, whose purpose it is to kill, steal and destroy. Save us, also, from pride and arrogance and every insidious evil; rather, mold and shape us into an holy People.
And now I sing with the Psalmist, “Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his surpassing greatness! Let everything that breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” Praise be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; ever one God, world without end. Amen and Amen.
