Not Alone Along the Way

You have set this rugged road before me,
Gutted here and there, flooded over some,
And You ask me to travel along the gravel;
Ah! But not alone, no; You walk with me.

Sometimes smooth, ofttimes rough, tough
To climb the hills that meet us on the way,
And my feet grow weary, my heart dreary;
Ah! But never alone, no; You walk with me.

And this new day spreads out before me,
How fine the bed of grass which now I see,
But You say ’tis not for sleep, keep pace
For you are not alone; I walk with you.’

He knows the way to walk night and day
For He made both…
